RYA & ISA Certified Live Aboard Cruising Courses

Our cruising courses are run on a live-aboard basis and are 5 days in duration. The courses are designed to teach you the skills to run or be a part of a team on a yacht at sea.

5 day live aboard cruising training courses €650 all year

5 day teenage adventure live aboard cruising only €350

Competent Crew Training Course 5 Day Live Aboard	For complete beginners and teaches you how to handle the sails, steer the boat use ropes and fenders and how to be a useful member on a cruising yacht. There are no pre-requisites for this course. Capacity - 5pers. Find out more about Competent Crew Training.	All Year €650	19-23 April, 14-18 June, 26-30 July, 9-13 August.
Day Skipper Practical Training Course 5 Day Live Aboard	Teaches students how to handle a cruising yacht in coastal waters. The course covers manoeuvers under sail and motor day passage navigation, entry and exit of harbours, marinas, piers and jetties, and crew management. To do this course you need to be able to sail and have a completed a basic navigation course, this would be day skipper theory, Keelboat L3, Recreational powerboat, or the coastal navigation for small boats. Coastal Skipper Practical Training Course 5 Day Live Aboard	Takes students to a higher degree of cruising and involves making longer passages at sea, overnight passages, and a higher degree of navigation. Mile building would be part of this course along with tricky harbour entrances and decision making. In order to take this course you must be of day skipper standard or above with some experience. Capacity - 5pers. Find out more about Coastal Skipper Training. You could also take your Coastal Skipper while on the 2 week Adventure Sail or on the Scillies sail. 7 Day Coastal Skipper & Mile Building to Scilly Isles	A one off sailing trip to experience night sailing, off shore sailing and of course to enjoy the wonderful coastline of Ireland and Scillies - a grat combination	7 day Special trip to Scillies & back €750	16-22 May
RYA Cruising Instructor	If you have your Commecial Yachtmaster ticket then why not become an RYA Cruising Insructor so you can teach Competent Crew and Day Skipper for RYA cruising schools anywhere in the world. Ladies only 5 Day Live Aboard	Many ladies find themselves crewing for their families and never actaully take the helm and take control - well this is your chance to join a few other women and learn the ropes of navigation, steering, sail setting and that all important coming in and out of the marina - no shouting or cursing!! Find out more. With the World Cup coming up this year it is your chance to leave them behind with their wide screen tv and head to the big seas for some fun.	High Season €650 includes mooring/marina fees, fuel and all your meals, except 1 night out	5-9 July 2010 (last week of the World Cup)
Adventure Weekends New for 2010 2 Day 1 Night Live Aboard	If getting away for a whole week is difficult or you are not sure if you are ready for a week at sea, then you can now join us for a weekend of sail training and advenure on board Jessy here in beautiful West Cork. A great option ifaim is to gain an ISA or RYA qualification or just to enjoy a couple of days at sea. Skippered Charter - massive discounts on 2009	You can charter the boat and group for your own private group. Bring up to 5 persons for RYA/ISA training or up to 8 for just cruising. Take the boat for 1 or as many days as you want (subject to availability). Yachtmaster Prep	Designed to prepare students for the Yachtmaster Examination. It is very intensive and involves close quarter maneuvers under sail and engine, problem solving and rapid navigation exercises. You need to have a high standard of sailing and boat handling , have logged over 2500 miles completed a number of passages as skipper and logged over 50 night hours. This is an intensive training week. Capacity - 5pers. We recommend private charter for this and you can take as many days you need and choose your own crew. Trainees that achieve high enough level of skills can then go on to charter the yacht for an external exam or organise an exam in their own boat, see charter rates above.
Yachtmaster Theory	Shorebased navigation course, taking you to the standard required for progressing to you Yachtmaster Practical exam or to improve your navigation knowledge. 8 days training & 2 days study Capacity - 30pers.		December
