STCW 95 Standard Training Certificate for Watch keeping.

This is a Merchant Navy Standard and internationally recognized. It is invaluable for those who are going to work abroad as well as in Ireland on board charter yachts, coded vessels, commercial and passenger carrying vessels.

STCW95 Fire Fighting VHF Training STCW95 Fire Fighting STCW95 Personal Survival Techniques

We have organised a 5 day intensive training programme in Cowes, Isle of Wight, covering all the Basic Skills levels.

  • STCW95 First Aid - 1 day. An elementary First Aid course covering basic life support, shock, bleeding, burns, fractures, head injuries and hypothermia. There are practical elements on this course doing CPR and recovery position and scenarios so it is advisable to wear comfortable clothes.
  • Sea Survival - 1 day. The Day starts with theory, the dry drill, why we have arrived at teh way we look at sea survival, shat is sea survival. Covering topics of safety, lifejackets and their maintenance, life rafts, types and equipment available. Practical elemetns of the course are practiced in teh sea to make it as realistic as possible (though you will have the luxury of a dry suit!). You will deploy a life raft, carry out the evolutions of getting into and out of a life raft, swimming, righting an upturned liferaft, and generally get quite exhausted!
  • Fire Fighting - 2 days. Giving you both hands on experience with real fire and underpinning theory. Taking part in fire fighting and rescue scenarios - wear old clothes.
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities - 1/2 day. Thought provoking and instills an awareness of issues experienced on board any vessel. Lively group discussion and group work help to ensure the student gets the most out of the day.

We are also organsing an RYA VHF course on the last day.
