Whether you have never set foot on a boat or feel like you are a bit of a salty old sea dog, you can step on board Jessy of Adrigole licensed sailing yacht and get a certified. Living on board Monday to Friday, exploring the glorious Bantry Bay and anchoring somewhere new every night.

Competent Crew will give you the basics and coach you to become a reliable crew. You will be helming under sail and motor, helping with the sails, dealing with ropes, learning about being safe on the water, learn how to understand coastal weather forecasts and much more. This is a wonderful week at sea learning new skills and being out in the open all week – morning swims, sun sets from the deck and, if your lucky, dolphins on the bow. Day Skipper coaches you to become a skipper in familiar waters. Day sailing, navigating, passage planning and of course helming, more ropework, safety, tender management (that’s the dinghy) and passage planning based on your weather forecasting, tides, time and crew. You need to be able to sail and have your Day Skipper Theory certificate or the equivalent knowledge before embarking upon this Day Skipper practical live aboard course. Come solo, as a couple, with a mate or charter the entire boat. We have a package to reflect your needs. We don’t match strangers with eachother like most sail training yachts, we prefer to give you the option of bringing someone along to share your cabin with and pay less each or enjoying the comfort of a private cabin. We occationally have a single bunk available in the main saloon too.

Meals on board are all vegetarian or responsibly sourced meats. The dinners are all precooked at home with loads of love and quality ingredients. Lunches are usually a sandwich anchored up somewhere beautiful or enjoyed under sail. Breakfast is cereals, soda bread, jams, tea, coffee. There is always a stock of fruit for you to snack on any time. Bring your own sweet treats and if you fancy a glass of wine one night, then bring along a bottle.
